of mamak bungkus, tapau and takeaways

chocolate fountain

what i have been eating throughout my 3 weeks working stint in bangsar village (pic above included, hee)...

most of the days our diet consisted of devi's corner as it is just across the road.

nasi lemak ayam tambah telur mata kerbau- rm5

maggi goreng- rm3

on days that we craved for kfc but there is none within the area proximity, mcdonalds was our consolation...

fillet-o-fish

once when jill and i simply couldnt decide what to eat and devi's wasnt in our wishlist, we splurged on coffee bean...

salmon and egg muffin- rm14.50

tuna curry puff

on days when i did make it to subang early and managed to tapau this from success kopitiam...

chicken rice- rm3.50

one day when my boss aka my sister was generous, she treated everyone to chatterbox takeaway...

fried glass noodles- rm10.80

cheesy porkchop baked rice- rm13.90

fried ostrich hor fun- rm10.80

cheesy seafood baked rice- rm13.90

on one friday night when there was a pasar malam, we went and bought this...

fried lo bak gou

there were two rainy nights where the mall's air cond was blasting cold, we were hungry and craving badly for some decent chinese food... taichow was our saviour. all hail tai chows from now on...

fried mee and meehoon

fried hokkien mee

fu yong omelet

stir fried potato leaves

fried rice

stir fried potato leaves with sambal belacan & chillies

sweet & sour pork

fried meehoon

every night we take at least half an hour to decide on what to eat. on some nights when our neighboring booth's boss (which sells cufflinks) was feeling generous, we had pizza (dominos, canadian, marco's) and nando's.

and im kinda still sick of mamak now...

d*lish @ bangsar village I

happy new year everyone!

back to clearing my backlogs which have now piled up in so many different folders... so many that i dont know which one to clear off first. haha.

ive always heard and read about this place called d*lish and im sure its not something new to many out there. but knowing me, i rarely wander around places like bangsar so during my 3 weeks work stint in bangsar village, i made sure i give this place a shot.

and so i did on my first day of work. and a couple of days after that as well.

the menu on an ol' school blackboard

with a red-white theme, d*lish is minimalist in deco, with most things identified from ikea. d*lish has also very quirky lines that forms the "guidelines" to getting your food. i did not take all steps from #1 to #7 but the above are visuals for you to understand what im saying.

their array of pretty cupcakes and brownie slices are hard to resist and will bound to tempt you back even after you step out of the place. i tried the chocolate raspberry brownie slice @rm6.80 (refer to above pic). despite the tempting outlook, it was nothing great to shout about...

chicken bacon spaghetti carbonara- rm13.80

orange/cranberry juice- rm4.80

portions for the pasta was big and certainly filling (maybe cos it was carbonara??). tastewise, it was rather ordinary, again nothing fancy or great to shout about. as for the 'violently squeezed' orange juice, i dont know about other people but i thought it tasted somewhat like the sunkist/peelfresh juices you get in the supermarkets.

p/s: it comes in a really small 300ml bottle.

bento box nasi ulam- rm15.80

one monday night, we couldnt decide what to eat and we just hit our target sales, so i just thought of rewarding myself a d*lish dinner (i'll post about what we have in most nights next time) ... i had the bento box nasi ulam.

although the food isnt that great (again), i like d*lish's concept of making takeaways so easy and no frills. their cutleries are really great and their takeaway package is so awesome (for eg. bento box) that it gives an entire new meaning to the term "ta pau".

pp/s: they give very nice paperbags for takeaway ;-)

2007: another year come and gone...

its the time for an obligatory post on what the year has been like... the ups, the downs, the good and the bad.

it was one heck of a year comprising of bittersweet memories.

a year of perseverance and hangin on in there.

... what comes up must come down. and so it was a time when we had to pat each other's back and say "thanks guys, couldnt have done it without you." good and bad times that will forever be etched in my memory- the 31st intima.

a year of love, care and knowing each other more.

a year of new opportunities, recognition, achievements and realizing our own potential.

a year of pride, happiness and joy for my *cough* loved *cough* ones.

a year of farewell, goodbyes and see you soon.

a year of being supportive of cultural music! *live and loud kl rocks!*

a year of strengthening old friendships...

... and forging new ties.

a year of celebrations.
and most presents i got in my whole 20 years. thanks guys (esp you calvin)!

and the best present i had for myself for the year was...

an A1 for a final year subject!

greg asked me what my new year resolutions are...

stayin' true as a food blogger, of cos it must be... TO VISIT EVERY EATERY OUTLET IN THE CURVE!! hahahaha.

and i promise *fingers and toes crossed!* to work hard for my final semester :-)

and improving on my card making skills!

happy new year folks! hope 2008 will be a better year for you and me :-)
go out and celebrate but dont get too wasted!

... till i write again, next year ;-) cheersssssss!
