restoran king crab seafood

king crab is a name familiar to many... i've blogged about their dim sum fare here before. a first timer for their dinner dishes though, i did my research on what to order. it was meant to be a simple dinner-meet up affair for the few of us and i was going to buy everyone dinner as I just got my paycheck cleared.

ms koh brought along a bottle of table wine... sorry, i cant remember the name. it was a sweet one and complemented our dinner well.

these are what i ordered based on other floggers' reviews and recommendations:

guinness pork ribs

yin yong kai lan

salted egg squid- *Highly Recommended*

lala in superior stock

baked salted fish- *Highly Recommended*
('suet san fei wu')

claypot butter crabs- rm40 per kg

fried mantou- rm3 per roll

the dishes were up to our expectations, no complains at all. the salted egg squid was DA BOMB! a really MUST order item as its fried to perfection and with a sinful coating of salted egg on top. looking at the pics now makes me wanna rewind time and have that again!

another MUST order dish is the baked salted fish ('suet san fei wu') which uses the tilapia fish. it is really special as salt are used to cover the whole fish and then baked. the fish was really fresh, its flesh is smooth and has a tangy feeling. the aftertaste was wonderful as well because you can really taste the salt.

the fried mantou really complemented the butter crab gravy... i like how it was fried to perfection, its crisy outside but fluffy inside. the crabs were very fresh as well...

the whole dinner was just so good that im running out of adjectives to describe them.

INTI bunch- jon, eiling, me, ms koh, ziling and greg

the dinner meet up was indeed fantastic for some catching ups, gossip sessions, political enlightenment, etc.

thanks ms koh for the dinner!
(she went and secretly paid the bill... when i was supposed to do it. grrrr...)

table for 6, food for 5

went to the curve end of last year for dinner. my cousin sis has just came by from singapore and so we brought her to waroeng penyet to savour some indonesian food. we were quite satisfied from our first visit there, we're now back for more!

(love this!)

total bill was rm100 and there was enough food to feed a famished kampung. nevertheless, it was a great meal.

4 family related girls with a guy trying to fit in :)

p/s: the sambal chilli accompanying the penyet dishes were SUPER DUPER FREAKING HOTTT! and i dont really like the tempe too.

arena foodcourt

i've always liked the arena foodcourt in 1utama because there is just so many nice food to choose from. and they have those fake displays of what the food looks like- though many times the real ones are SO DIFFERENT from the displays. kena tipu!

the one in sunway pyramid is so darn small- just about a handful of stalls and limited tables and chairs.

i was dying for some chinese soup as i hadnt had any soups since working. when i saw the signboard "herbal chicken soup" i quickly lined up!

herbal chicken soup- rm4.50++

the soup was surprisingly good and it was in a generous serving as well. i dont know if they added msg or what but at that point in time after being deprived of chinese soup... it tasted heavenly! ive always like herbal based dishes such as herbal chicken, herbal soup, bak kut teh, herbal eggs!

... but not herbal tea!

claypot chicken rice- rm4.50++

for my dinner, i had claypot chicken rice. a few pieces of boney chicken and rice... never been a great fan of claypot rice but i dont know why i chose that. sighs... i ate all the chicken but didnt finish the rice though.

the next time you're shopping in jusco pyramid, do recharge by dropping by and have a bowl of the herbal soup.

p/s: dont be surprise as there is a 5% gov tax! YES, in a foodcourt!

*************
a very random but funny (??) tabletop message i saw at one of the kopitiams in my neighborhood.

"exercise is good but dun like them"

LOL!

beef tomato fettuccine

its been awhile since my last 'cheap thrills... no frills' entries eh?

anyway, this is also a backdated cookout- about a month ago. i was (still am) craving for something beefy and so i decided to cook a beef pasta. i tried googling for recipe but none caught my eyes. so i thought, "ahh, what can be so hard huh?"

#STEP 1: prepare ingredients-

#STEP 2: boil pasta (i used fettuccine). after pasta is cooked, drain and add tiny slabs of butter , toss well so that they dont stick.

#STEP 3: cook beef strips till bout medium rare, leave aside. then sauté onions till golden brown. add beef, pasta sauce (i used ready made prego fresh mushroom tomato sauce). add bits of cheddar cheese and wedges of fresh tomatoes. allow to simmer for awhile before serving.

#STEP 4: enjoy!

phö hòa

just 2 days after my working period ended i went to the curve with another friend to savour some good food. i suggested to go vietnamese as i miss my beef so much although my friend couldnt take beef. sorry...!!

we went to phö hòa which is hidden in the same corner (its called the piazza if im not mistaken?) as charms cafe (just behind thai express).

i found the menu alil hard to comprehend with the language used. i dunno how to describe it but you'll understand if you see it yourself. anyway, in my mind i just wanted my beef so this is what i had...

steak pho- rm10.99

this is what my friend had...

chicken pho- rm9.99

we shared an appetizer...

egg cakes- rm4.99

and a dessert...

avocado nata cream- rm6.99

overall the food i felt were okay only. nothing spectacular, nothing fancy, nothing special. total bill was rm41.30 for the both of us inclusive of a hot jasmine tea and taxes. plain water is foc though ;)

i think i'd prefer vietnamese kitchen over this. i havent found the bestest vietnamese place yet... any suggestions?

chillax nite out @ skybar

i realized i havent blogged about my 2 visits to skybar which were both awesome in its own ways.

skybar itself is pretty awesome too.

#first, its all the way in traders hotel kl. whats so awesome i dunno but at least theres a gem within a hotel thats not as famous as hilton or shangri-la or marriot.

#second, its all the way up at level 33.

#third, it has an awesome pool setting just like luna bar (so i heard as i havent been to luna bar).

#fourth, it has an awesome breathtaking picturesque mindblowing [insert more nice adjectives] view from level 33 overlooking the twin towers.

p/s: do you know that by 2am, the towers lights are shut off?

now you see the lights...

... now you dont!

#fifth, it offers an array of drinks- from cocktails to wine to beer to whisky to juices. all come in their own distinctive and unique presentation and happy colors. (sorry, dunno some of the names)

hennesy coke

long island tea

mojito (??)

red wine

champagne

tropical fruit punch

#sixth & most IMPORTANT!

the company or people you go with to chillax... :)

the weekend is here!
