wasabi ice cream (complimentary)

sushi groove is having a set lunch promotion where all mains come with a complimentary choice of ice cream (green tea/ wasabi/ black sesame) and green tea of course. the dream roll was great as appetizers with a tinge of spicyness from the generous dollops of mayo. our mains fared ordinary, nothing to shout about although i have now learnt to love soba noodles, hot and cold. i still love my beef so yes any beef-y orders should be mine.

oh and the wasabi ice cream is really like wasabi. gawd, it is beyond me why would anyone wanna eat wasabi for dessert??! *stares at calvin* (p/s: check out his new smoke art!)

still prefer my sushi zanmai anytime but the last i went there and ordered the soft shell crab maki, the serving looked like it shrunk :-( the effects of fuel price increase although i have no idea how they are related. just like to bring the issue up again haha.

Balinese Fare @ Ole Ole Bali

Free Image Hosting - Photolava.com
iced barley lime (complimentary with every mains ordered)

ole ole bali has been around pyramid for some time now but i have never brought myself or anyone to try it until one fine day when khian came to look for me and meiling was coincidently around we went to pyramid with the intention of having thai, but ended up here as actually thai was empty (you know what an empty eatery means...).

ole-ole trio- rm33
a combination of ole-ole bbq wings, sate lilit and cumi-cumi goreng, served with sambel matah, sambel terasi, and tartar sauce.

i have a feeling it's 'inspired' by chilli's famous triple play. anyway, it was an interesting platter, everything anyone could have asked for... chicken wings! sate lilit (fish paste wrapped around lemongrass stick)! cumi-cumi (fried calamari)! western style platter with a touch and taste of balinese. definitely recommended!

Free Image Hosting - Photolava.com
chicken and chips- rm20
deep fried boneless chicken, served with apple sesame coleslaw, watermelon, fries and ole-ole brown gravy

besides balinese cuisines, the food outlet also has a number of western dishes such as steak, fish&chips, salmon, grilled lamb & chicken chops. meiling went for the chicken and chips. how did it taste like meiling?

Free Image Hosting - Photolava.com
nasi campur ole-ole- rm30
combination of balinese grilled lemongrass prawns, squid, fish, choice of beef or chicken rendang, and sate lilit, served with lawar, sambel terasi and sambel matah

khian had the above and couldn't finish! it came in a really big portion! but looks yummy nonetheless.

Free Photo Hosting - Photolava.com
nasi kambing bumbu- rm23
stir-fried lamb cutlet with chilli and spices

balinese people sure eat alot! the food portions are really huge! i shared the above with calvin and thank god he helped polish everything off, else i would be electric-chair'ed for wasting food.

overall, the food here is pretty unique and good. definitely worth a visit if you're sick of american joints but are looking for huge portions of food. recommended to share if you're not a big eater!

bubba gump shrimp co.
bubba gump needs no further introduction i assume as i have already previously blogged about it before. here's my second visit with calvin, this time with nicer pictures ;-)

we tried stealing taking them off the shelve (i believe many others have tried) but it's superduperglued :(

Free Photo Hosting - Photolava.com
old fashioned new england clam chowder- rm12.90 (bowl)

Free Image Hosting - Photolava.com
chipotle shrimp- rm36.90
tender shrimp sauteed in a creamy parmesan chipotle sauce, served over a bed of rice with garlic bread

Free Photo Hosting - Photolava.com
chocolate chip cookie sundae- rm 13.90
fresh baked chocolate chip cookie served warm with vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate, caramel, peanuts and whipped cream.

our selection of food this time is not too bad as its not typical american fried stuff. the shrimps are at average sizes and taste pretty good. the chipotle sauce is pretty unique as well with a slight spicy taste. the soup was nice as it has clams! hehe thats why its a clam chowder la. the dessert is yummy too! the cookies was still warm... huge portions so if you're not a big eater, make sure to share!

its a ...

#1 ... sunny day sunday.

***

#2 feeling as blahhhhh as everrrrr.

***

#3 still no job, feeling useless and a little out of faith. waiting is the hardest patience game.

***

#4 had a hearty breakfast, can't be bothered to do anything. in other words, weekends make me a lazyass. and no work makes me a lazyass as well (read #3).

***

#5 watched Ocean's Eleven and V for Vendetta for the first time yesterday (shuddup, watching blockbuster movies a few years behind all the craze and hype is my way of getting hyped and crazed). both movies were teh awesome! my favs now :-) vi vish vi van valk vike V.

watched Escape from Huang Shi (starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Chow Yun Fatt, though Michelle Yeoh's character is abit no point). omg. bloody good movie. made me cry so badly at the end. bloody good history lesson, the japs during jap occupation are monsters!

watched Kung Fu Panda. kiuttt but panda's father is NOT a panda wtf? but i like the part where panda's not-a-panda father reveals 'the secret ingredient is...' wanna know? go watch yourself!

***

#6 facebook was fun the first 2 weeks. now it's just log in--> ignore applications--> log out FULL STOP

***

#7 wake up to every morning, same shit happening to our country just different mornings and different people spilling the shit. i'm convinced the sons of our bekas PMs (actually i think it's ingenius that 'PM' is the abbreviation for Perdana Menteri & Prime Minister, kills 2 birds with a stone!) are such dckheads who deserve to have their dcks at their heads and heads at their dcks.

one who goes to london with dear wifey and an entire entourage at the expense of our poor taxpayers who have to pay RM2.70 petrol/liter to officiate (in layman's term- cut ribbons) of a malaysian restaurant (wow yay malaysia boleh!) and another who barks at the PR-led states. oh i forgot, they're both cousins.

am i angry? what are you talking about? I'M ALWAYS ANGRY.

***

#8 mom is coming back today, about another 2hrs countdown after 2 months away. i hope the neighbors dont report anything bad about us (eg. plants died cos your daughters didnt water them, car died cos your daughters didnt start it, cat became depressed cos your daughters closed all the windows and thus deterring them from jumping into the house and peeing everywhere (we hate cats and all kinds of animals) etc. oh there is always a latio, perdana, and city parked at your house, did you buy new cars? shit, confirm die. no we didn't buy new cars.

yay to no more having to do housework! sighs to mom's nagging.

***

#9 i skipped Eason's concert yesterday night :-( got noone as great a fan as me to go with. the only person i know who loves Eason as much as I do had a VVIP ticket. lucky bugger.

i should be going Beauty and the Beast if i have the $money$ and company. you are welcome to contribute either one ;-)

***

#10 its a sunday! happy father's day. thanks dad. and my bunny /hmph emoticon is cute okay!

happy weekend people, and petrol price is still RM2.70 per liter this week, next week, following weeks. not too sure if it will stay long enough cos our PM likes to play bluff wan.
