hon kee famous porridge since 1959
almost anyone and everyone who has had walked along the famous petaling street would know the existance of hon kee, a humble little stall that serves smooth silky porridge worth boasting about.
'sang yu' in piping hot porridge
you see, what makes hon kee more extraordinary than the usual porridge stalls you find littering every nook and cranny of food courts and wherenots is the raw fish it serves alongside with piping hot porridge! it's alittle bit like having yee sang/sashimi. being cautious eaters, we decided to be safe by dipping the raw slices of fish into our porridge and making sure that they're cooked thoroughly before consuming, but i've seen the older generation eating 'em raw, sashimi style! so, it's really up to you how you wanna savour the catch of the day...
with extra raw egg
with extra crunchy fried intestines
these fried little things make the whole breakfast experience more worthwhile and satisfying. so yumm (jen pls don't barf, u can skip this part ;-p) that i requested to ta pau a pack as snacks (rm5, not cheap as snacks)! i know it's sinful... but it's too sinful to say nooooooooooo...!
pricing for your reference :) (image googled)
chee cheong fun in onion oil and loadsa sesame- rm3
one of the most plain but most awesome ccf i've had in kl. to be honest, the ccf deserves to have the same limelight and fame and be mentioned in the same breath as the porridge. i like my ccf plain like this, no curry/sweet sauce/foreign alien gravy. its so le yum that i ta pau a pack for lunch the next day at office, topped with sinful crunchy intestines... soooooo good that the whole morning i was looking forward for lunch!
bbq bacon strips- rm9 (100gm)
when one is inarguably a carnivorous, one will never be able to resist the sight and smell of this (pic above)! to buy or not to buy.... TO BUY OF COS! eat it as a snack or sandwich it with bread, it's finger lickin' good! an expensive and fattening snack though, but these two words are non-existent in my gastronomic dictionary!
cheers to good food and more!
