o'briens

o'briens
gourmet coffee. irish sandwiches

param and i dropped by at the curve today to redeem the live & loud kl tickets. read about it later part of the post :)

he wanted to get his fix of ikea hotdog since we were at the area anyway... but later suggested o'briens for brunch. o'briens serves sandwiches, sandwiches and sandwiches. in m'sia, we see it as a snack/something light to fill our stomach (at least for me) but HAHA ask anyone in the US/UK now... they'd probably be cursing me for posting food that they're so sick of now.

lalalalalala... but anyway!

chilled beverages corner

*mouth watering* fillings

param's triple toostie- rm16.50

my hot honey chilli chicken wrappo- rm15.50

param's grape sparkling juice- rm 7.50

param's bill- rm26.25

my bill- rm19.22

pricey... yea :(

i regretted ordering my wrappo. param's tripple decker looked and tasted so good. plus, i wasnt even full after the wrappo... which prompted us to get our REAL lunch @seksyen 17. will blog about it in the next post. stay tune!

******

7 coupons from star metro to redeem for 1 LIVE & LOUD KL tix!
we redeemed 4 tix, param bought 21 copies of the star today, while i got mine free- from the house and from the college. HAHA. cheap thrills, no frills yea.

this is not actual tix, but somesort like a 'pass' to redeem the real tix on that day itself.
world music, heritage & culture- 2nd dec, here we come!

yes, yes we are coming :)

p/s: nah u-xinn my latest pic... got fat edi meh? i dont think so...

paddington house of pancakes

paddington house of pancakes

yes, we're finally here! paddington house of pancakes! heard and read alot about it and luckily all 4 of us makan club members- jill, kenneth, param and i- hadnt try it before. so we were a tad bit too jakun. HAHA.

the big book of menu

we paid a visit to the 1 utama outlet cos we were scheduled for the movie "beowulf" after that. upon entering the premise, we were seated by a friendly waiter and given a menu each. the word "menu" doesnt even justify it. it was like a wedding photo album- the size and thickness, except theres no wedding photos lah. there were 138 items in the book and yeah we just kept flippin and flippin but dunno what to order. EVERYTHING LOOKS AND SOUNDS SO GOOD !

BIG colorful pictures from the menu-
how can anyone not want to steal the menu, eh?

p/s: i even asked the waiter if they sell the book of menu. he said no -_- but im planning to steal it in my next visit. jill bring your biggest bag ok.

november table 11

okok so about 20 mins of flippin' and flippin'... we made up our minds, and these are what we had to pop our paddington cherry.

kenneth's choice from savoury american pancake stakes
double gourmet cheese sausages, beef salami, hash brown & grilled mozzarella- rm22.50

my choice of pannekoek
'vienna' gourmet sausages, onions, fresh button mushroom & mozzarella- rm18.50

param's grilled chicken burger- rm20.50
grilled chicken breast with cameralizaed onions, grilled cheddar, peppers, chicken ham & hashbrown

jill's mushroom omellet- rm18.50
cocktail sausages, cherry tomatoes, mashed potatoes, mushroom omellet

pot of gold- rm10.50
bite sized dollar pancakes with mini marshmallows, nuts, ice cream & choco sauce

sprite float- rm6.50

passionfruit citron crush- rm10.50

peanut butter & banana shake- rm12.50

food comes in portions that you can eat up by yourself or for sharing depending on your hungry-o-meter. mine was at its alarming peak, so i finished everything myself. actually, i think it depends also on which item you order as you can see my choice of vienna pannekoek* doesnt look that heavy compared to jill's mushroom omellet.

*Dutch pannekoek ('pan-ne-kook') are popular 12" thin pancakes eaten mainly for lunch and dinner.

pp/s: oh yeah, for the month of nov with rm50 and above in a single recepit, there is a FREE dessert. there are two choices- pot of gold or the plain pancake with lemon juice, sugar and blueberries. no, you cannot sit together but split the bills to have more than one free dessert :( maybe you can tryna go in and pretend you dunno each other but after making orders, pretend that you met the other fler coincidently and request to be seated together but splitting the bill. omg am i a genius or what.

tastewise, who would have known simple easy-to-make pancakes can make it big and taste so good with both savoury and desserts. after having this, i bet nobody will look at pancakes the way it was before. pancakes? cheh, cheap food.

total bill- rm127.55

definitely on the pricey side... somebody please come up with a pancakes house at a food foundry price and location!!

worthy of a revisit but maybe not so soon.

mcdonald's

the other day i was left home alone. it was 3pm something and i hadn't had lunch... instant noodles are my best friends so the thought of eating them up shudders me ;-) and so i drove out to the mcd drivethru located in the neighborhood.

since the inception of the system that requires you to order and pay at 2 different stations (i think its a waste of time and i hate the system), i've never did went drivethru. shuddup i know i suck at adapting to new technologies. you see, my 1st experience with the system didnt go so well, i actually went home empty handed not knowing what to say to the speakers :(

but! i finally did overcome my fear of talking to a speaker and communicating with a monitor screen. yeah, my McDrivethru phobia is gone!!!

and these are what i had for late lunch...

the *new* spicy chicken mcdeluxe ala carte- rm6.90

the *new* cornetto mcflurry- rm4.50

free small fries with kids club card
(eh, dun tell me you didnt apply the card for the freebies)

freshly squeezed orange juice not included
(dont take too much soft drinks! at least when you eat unhealthy food, drink lah something healthy to balance it up!)

total bill- rm11.97
(if i had chosen to eat my best friends- the instant noodles it would only cost me NOTHING, comes free when you live with your parents, heheh *wink!*)

i think it'll be my first and last time having the spicy chicken mcdeluxe. it's really spicy! i prefer my burgers to be non-spicy. i actually love kfc's original fillet burger but its so small compared to mcdeluxe. oh well, mcdeluxe is double the price of kfc's so i guess the size justifies it. the cornetto mcflurry is really nice. i like the nuts and chocolate chips in it... as for the fries, IMHO, mcd fries is the bestest among all fast food joints (esp the outlet in ss15 opposite inti college).

found something funny on google image:

"Welcome to McDonalds. Give me your money. It's a McCrime."

mcdonald's
i'm lovin' it
available at places where there's humans ;)

bar-b-q plaza

super backdated post again... trying to clear all these backdated reviews when i have nothing new to write such as today. again, it happened so long ago that i cant remember the details like prices/names well. sorry!

not knowing what to eat one fine day ago at sunway pyramid, calvin and i went to bar-b-q plaza. if my memory serves me well, we ordered the supreme beef set. i think it was about rm25 or so... the set comes with slices of beef, squids, prawns, fish thingy that normally comes with steamboat, chicken slices, carrots, baby corns and quite an amount of shredded cabbage.

the color is so tempting eh!!

it also comes with pieces of pork lard to err... act as oil (??)

i love how the meat cooks!! pretty colors!!

calvin opted for garlic rice

orange quencher or something like that
(just ice blended orange lah- best to share)

mango sago (contains chunks of real mango!!- best to share also)

i wouldnt say it was really good... i'd prefer the local type of steamboat bbq- hotplate bottom, steamboat top kind. however, i think this is for those who are more health conscious... things are less oily and burnt. also, a cleaner environment :)

i just found out that bar-b-q plaza is actually a thai owned franchise serving korean + mongolian bbq + steamboat. actually i dont know what i should i put as the label for this post. thai? korean? mongolian?

cheap thrills... no frills #1

this will be the first episode of my "cheap thrills... no frills" series... whereby i will cook! and absolutely no need to use any money cos all the ingredients are rummaged from the fridge, the cupboards, the shelves... just about any places where food are stored at home!! yes, there's still free breakfast/lunch/dinner when you're still a student living with and under parents' expenses!

sick of instant noodles, i cooked my own 4 course dinner + a drink. i aint a very good cook, but i dont think i will die lah if stranded at home. a week has past since i had this dinner and im still alive and kicking! heh, so i dont think my cooking was anything harmful or poisonous. lol.
