dragon-i

dragon-i @ sunway pyramid

my first ever visit to dragon-i can be summed up in 48 words.

ambience and decoration are pretty to look at and comfy with the signature terracottas guarding the entrance, open kitchen showing the xiao long bao sifus at work, nice red-black theme, picture menu... but the food was so-so only. worth a visit but revisits are maybe/maybe not.

the ribs are too oily and the dessert taste too bland and blah which does not justify the yellowcreamydelicious outlook. the famed xiao long bao however was alright. pricey for such sub-standard food.

Calvin: the "la mien" texture was pretty good as it was prepared just right. I like my noodles just right where its not too hard or not too soft. However, the szechuan soup was not as I expected. Usually all the szechuan I have tasted has a very sharp vinegar taste. This one, it's pretty bland. Didn't have the szechuan soup "oomph" that i was looking for.

the hot spicy soup was pretty good, the soup felt like it had been made out of many ingredients. However, the soup was a lil oily just like the ribs. But I'd say, most authentic chinese dishes that uses some sort of chili paste ends up with a lil more oil than usual.

[NOTE: the braised peanuts is not complimentary! so if you don't want an additional RM2 in your bill for something you don't want, do return it back and make sure they don't charge you for it. the wet tissues come at an extra charge too.]

The Xiu Long Bao at Ming Tien @ Taman Megah are pretty tasty too. And the BEST part is it's RM 4.50 per basket only!
